My Climbing Journey

HOW IT ALL STARTED

I started climbing a few years ago. My friend was into climbing and invited me to go to the rock gym with him. I wasn't very good, but it was fun! I tried bouldering and top rope and found out that I was scared of heights. I met some new friends and fell in love with climbing.

01

LEAD

I was still afraid of heights, but kept pushing myself so that I would become a better climber. After some time, I even learned how to lead climb.

02

ROCKTOBERFEST

My first climbing comp! I was still pretty new to climbing, but my friends pushed me to join them in a climbing competition. I didn't come close to winning, but I had a great time.

03

DYNO

It took me about two years to break v3's. Still learning, but part of the fun is the challenge.

04

FIRST TIME OUT DOOR CLIMBING

I was scared to climb outside because I didn't think I was good enough to not get hurt. But, the same friends pushed me to go with them and I'm glad. It was so hard and made me rethink how good I thought I was. I was terrible outdoors, but it was a lot of fun and a completely different experience than climbing inside.

05

MASTERING V4

It took me about a hundred times to get this v4. This really helped me push my boundaries and enabled me to get to my next level of climbing.

06

NEW TECHNIQUES

At this point, v3's and 4's were my normal and I was able to climb easier 5's and 6's. Understanding how to move and control your body is just as important, if not more important, than having muscles. Although, being strong helps!

07

DARK HORSE

My second climbing comp! I still didn't win, but I came in 4th in my division. What a blast. My goal is to win the next comp I join.

08

DYNO UPDATE

While they are a little scary, dynos are fun and really make me pumped. Unlike before, I have more control and now, I just go for it.

09

V'5s

I climb v5's and v6's with more ease now, but still find some challenging routes.

WHAT'S NEXT

Unfortunately, I am unable to climb right now, but that isn't stopping me from getting better. My goal is to reach V8+! I work out at home and run as much as possible. I can't wait to climb again!
